Appreciate Your Russian Teachers Day Celebration
05 October 2015

On the 5th of October more than one million high school teachers and 350 000 thousand universities teachers throughout Russia are being honoured as part of the Russian Teachers Day celebrations. Ever since the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) recognized the importance of the teaching profession the celebrations take place in many countries worldwide today. The aim is to increase the prestige and respect for this highly responsible job and create awareness for their daily efforts.

Between 1965 and 1994 Teachers’ Day was celebrated on the first Sunday of October in Russia. Since 1994 the annual festivity is marked on the 5th of October, like in many other countries across the globe.

Students in Russia usually show their respect and gratefulness on this special day with games, competitions, drama, dance or little presents. Besides the activities planned by the students some schools reward their teachers for their efforts. Furthermore there is the annual Teacher of the year competition which took place in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, this year. The winner receives a crystal Pelican which is the symbol of self-dedication.

It is very important to acknowledge the importance of passing on knowledge from generation to generation and show gratefulness towards those who dedicate their life for the students’ betterment and knowledge acquisiton.

Thank you to all teachers at Liden & Denz for their priceless efforts and daily devotion!!
