Hello from the new Moscow intern!
18 July, 2017
My name is Tom and I am the new intern at Liden & Denz in Moscow. This is my first time in Russia and I am very excited to see what Moscow has to offer! I study Politics and Russian at university in London and I am looking forward to putting my Russian skills to the test.
I love travelling and have been all over the world but Moscow has always held a special attraction. I think this comes from reading Russian literature when I was younger. My favourite classical author is Dostoevsky but recently I have been enjoying the more modern books of Vladimir Sorokin. I am excited to explore a city with such a great literary past.
I am looking forward to my internship at Liden & Denz as it will motivate me to hunt for new and exciting places to share with our readers.
In particular, I will be focusing on three passions of mine – music, film and food. I hope in the next five weeks to taste the best food Moscow has to offer, from local Russian food to Georgian cuisine. I also love Russian films – I really enjoyed a recent one called Leviathan by Andrey Zvyagintsev – and hope to visit some nice cinemas while I’m here.
And finally – if I have any free time! – I hope to go to some of Moscow’s best underground nightclubs. I did a university project on Russian nightlife and I am excited to visit some of the electronic music venues I wrote about!
I look forward to sharing my experiences in this fabulous city with everyone!
