Loft Project Etagi
31 March, 2014
Hidden away just off Ligovsky Prospekt, Loft Project Etagi is the place that Pinterest made. It provides the ultimate hipster hide-out with its mix of reclaimed furniture, reasonably-priced veggie nosh and the usual range of posh coffees.
Perhaps most striking is the building itself. Bread production may have long since ceased but the guys at Etagi have gone to great lengths to breathe life into the factory’s original equipment to incorporate it into the modern design. Old drill machines and bread-making equipment find a new home amongst rustic exposed brick-work, plant life and tables made from whitewashed cable drums bedecked with flyers, postcards and stickers.
All of this creates bright and airy gallery spaces which house a collection of contemporary art unrivalled by anything in St Petersburg. There is also no end of great events on an evening – great for meeting Russians!
Peruse the various pop-up boutiques and gallery space, have a drink on the roof terrace and enjoy the easy atmosphere and friendly staff. Service in the cafe is a tad slow but they’re a nice bunch!
