Thank you, Liden & Denz!
Thank you, Liden & Denz!
I remember it very well. It was summer 2018 in Switzerland and I was walking home after having finished my working day at the institute where I was doing my internship. I was about to arrive home, when I saw a red sticker plastered on a bus station, on which a hammer and sickle and the letters “CCCP” clearly stood out. The text accompanying the image read: “Пролелетарии всех стран, соединяйтесь!” (Proletarians of all countries, unite!). Of course, knowing a bit about the historical context of these symbols and the peculiar acronyms, it was not difficult for me to figure out what this interesting sticker was about, but the message I could not decipher at all.
For several years now I have had a great interest in everything related to the Soviet Union and the Russia we know today, but that instance at the bus stop was one of the key moments that led me to make the decision to finally delve a little deeper into the Slavic world and understand the language, culture and history of this iconic country we know today as “Mother Russia”. What I am getting at with this brief anecdote is that it doesn’t take much to start something, but rather a breeze of inspiration is more than enough. As the famous phrase goes: “Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration”, which I believe applies to all walks of life. And it always surprises me how far that gentle breeze can take you; in my case, that moment of subtle inspiration in front of the bus stop took me far, far away… to Russia!
Coming here had always been an idea, but it had always remained just that – an idea and no more. But when I finally made the decision to come here I knew I was doing the right thing. The work and study programme that I had the opportunity to complete here at Liden & Denz was a great experience, and it definitely helped me to improve my Russian. I am very grateful to all the people who supported me during my stay, to the internship supervisor who was always there for anything I needed, to my excellent teachers and to my dear classmates and internship partners, with whom studying and working was truly a pleasure.
For all those who would like to gain work experience and at the same time take their Russian language skills to the next level, I would highly recommend a “Part time internship (work & study)”-programme offered by Liden & Denz. You can find more information about this subject by clicking here.
I have loved my time abroad in Russia, and I reiterate that coming here was an excellent decision; and I’m not sad to leave, because I’ll be back very soon!
Thank you very much Liden & Denz for opening your doors to me and letting me be part of your team for the last few months.
Огромное спасибо за всё и до свидания, Liden & Denz!
